OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens are expected to start three backup offensive linemen in their "Monday Night Football" game against the Cleveland Browns, although they've gotten used to not having left tackle Eugene Monroe these days.
Monroe, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, is one of the four Ravens players who are listed as doubtful. If Monroe is inactive Monday, it will mark the 11th game he'll miss (including playoffs) since signing his five-year, $37.5 million deal before the 2014 season. In fact, since receiving his $11 million signing bonus, he's only played in 17 of 27 games (63 percent). This season, Monroe has only finished three games.
The Ravens will turn to James Hurst, an undrafted second-year player, to protect the blind side of Matt Schaub, who is making his first start in two years. Hurst has graded out as the fifth worst left tackle in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus, and he was pushed into Joe Flacco last Sunday, which led to the quarterback tearing two knee ligaments.
With Kelechi Osemele (knee) doubtful, Ryan Jensen is expected to make his second career start. Given that center Jeremy Zuttah (pectoral) is on injured reserve, Baltimore is set to start three backups in Hurst, Jensen and John Urschel.
"I’m not too worried about the O-line at all," coach John Harbaugh said. "It’s a cohesive group, we have depth. No matter who is playing is going to play very well.”
