ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills will practice on Christmas day this Friday, but that doesn’t mean Tuesday was too soon for players to exchange gifts.
Quarterback Tyrod Taylor made the biggest splash in the locker room, buying each of his offensive linemen 65-inch, ultra-high definition televisions that were sitting in front of their lockers when players arrived at the facility Tuesday.
“Nice gesture by Tyrod,” center Eric Wood said. “It kind of just reinforces what I feel about him, that he just gets it, man. He understands the game, he understands being a quarterback, he understands his role with us and really nice gesture of him.”
Each of the televisions retail at about $1,600. For a total cost of about $12,000 for the offensive line, Taylor’s purchase amounts to about a quarter of one of Taylor’s weekly game checks.
Taylor has a 6-6 record this season as the Bills’ starter and ranks fifth in the NFL this season with a 101.8 passer rating. He earned a vote of confidence Monday from coach Rex Ryan.
“I think going into next season, we’re pretty sure who our quarterback is, and I think that’ll help us,” Ryan said.
In addition to Taylor gifting televisions to his offensive line, the entire Bills’ locker room received custom blankets with their name and jersey number from the team Tuesday.
