This morning we gave you the insight on first-round pick Danny Shelton from Cleveland Browns defensive line coach Anthony Weaver.
Weaver also addressed other players on the roster, and the defensive line as a whole.
Here are his thoughts on a unit that includes Shelton, second-round pick Xavier Cooper, Desmond Bryant, Randy Starks, John Hughes, Ishmaa'ily Kitchen, Billy Winn, Armonty Bryant, and Phil Taylor.
"I'm glad I'm not Ray Farmer this year," Weaver said of the man who will make the final roster decisions.
Weaver also discussed …
The numbers of players he will be able to use: "It's a beautiful thing. If you can keep guys fresh and they're playing that fourth quarter like they're playing the first, you can just ride the hot hand. It's a beautiful thing to watch. We lost that a little bit when we were decimated by injuries last year."
On Taylor returning from serious knee surgery: "We just got to get him to the point where he's confident. That's the biggest thing. When you have a guy coming off injury, particularly a guy his size, he needs to gain confidence in that knee."
On the impact Shelton can have on third down: "I think he has all the potential in the world to be a three-down player. Just because of what I've said, the way he can collapse the pocket in pass rush will make more success for our edges, for the Paul Krugers of the world, the Scott Solomons, the Mingos. They will appreciate that."
On how much Cooper will play as a rookie: "He will play as much as he can handle mentally in learning the position."
On the defense finishing 32nd and last in the league in run defense in 2014: "It hurt my pride, man."
