The Cleveland Browns made a couple expected moves with rookie draft picks on Wednesday.
Cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu and tight end Randall Telfer -- both drafted after each had surgery to repair serious late- or postseason injuries -- were placed on the active/non-football injury list.
Both remain on the active roster; neither are expected to contribute much this season, if at all.
Ekpre-Olomu is still recovering from a serious knee injury incurred when practicing for the Rose Bowl while at Oregon. He is expected to eventually be placed on injured reserve; the Browns admitted his chances for playing this season were very slim when they drafted him in the seventh round. Telfer, a sixth-round pick, had surgery Feb. 26 to repair a mid-foot fracture that involved the Lisfranc joint.
Coach Mike Pettine said during organized team activities that Telfer has an outside chance to return late in the season, but it would not be at all surprising if both had a "redshirt" season in 2015.
Per league rules, both players remain on the active roster, and both can be activated after passing a physical.
In other roster moves, the Browns signed offensive lineman Joe Madsen, who spent three weeks on Green Bay's practice squad one year ago.
He replaces Tyler Loos, who told the team he would not play after minicamp. Loos had a strong senior season at Northern Illinois, but dealt with numerous and serious injuries to both legs in his previous three college seasons.
The Browns also announced that undrafted defensive lineman Tory Slater will start camp on the active/physically unable to perform list.
