ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys often talk about wanting to bring waves of defensive linemen at opposing quarterbacks but only seven are active for tonight’s opener against the New York Giants.
The Cowboys elected to de-activate defensive tackles Davon Coleman and Ken Bishop and rookie defensive end Ryan Russell, so they only have three true defensive ends active: Jeremy Mincey, DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory.
Jack Crawford can play defensive end but spent most of his time in the summer playing defensive tackle.
With seven defensive linemen active, the Cowboys dressed every receiver with Devin Street and Lucky Whitehead filling out the fourth and fifth spots.
Running back Christine Michael, guard La'el Collins, tackle Jordan Mills and tight end Geoff Swaim are also inactive.
