FRISCO, Texas -- On Monday, Dez Bryant became the 11th NFL player to throw a touchdown pass to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.
On Thursday, Witten was spotted with Bryant and Tony Romo, who has thrown 37 of the 10-time Pro Bowler's 63 career touchdowns.
What followed was a history lesson on the quarterbacks whom Witten has played with in his 14-year career.
“Let’s go in order,” Witten said.
He immediately named Quincy Carter (three) and Vinny Testaverde (six) but then stalled.
“Um, hold on here,” he said, before rattling off Drew Bledsoe (six), Jon Kitna (six) and Kyle Orton (one).
While Orton threw a touchdown pass, that’s not the correct order. And he was spotted with Romo, so no harm in skipping him between Bledsoe and Kitna.
“I’m out of order?” he said. “OK, hold on. Did the Bull throw me one? Johnson."
No, Brad Johnson did get one to him.
For a hint he was told to remember baseball players.
“I didn’t get one from [Chad] Hutchinson,” he said. “No, [Drew] Henson didn’t play.”
He’s right about that. Neither Hutchinson nor Henson threw him one.
“Hold on a second, there’s 11?” he said trying to buy time.
Now the order did not much matter.
“Quincy, Romo, OK. Bledsoe, Vinny ... Kitna. McGee?
Stephen McGee, who started one game for the Cowboys, threw one.
“Nice. Go Aggies.”
And back to the list.
“McGee, uh, Orton, Dak and ... Kellen.”
Prescott has thrown three touchdown passes to Witten this season. Kellen Moore had one last season.
For another hint he was told to think about last year.
“Matt Cassel?” he said
Nope, not Cassel.
“Oh, gosh,” he said. “Oh, Weeden. Weeden."
Brandon Weeden threw one touchdown pass to Witten.
“Little bit of help, I got it,” Witten laughed.
