ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos held Pro Bowl cornerback Chris Harris Jr. out of Tuesday’s main practice due to a hamstring injury.
It marked the third consecutive practice Harris Jr. has been on the sidelines. He was pulled from practice last week with some soreness in his leg.
Coach Gary Kubiak said the decision to hold Harris out of Tuesday’s morning practice was made right before the workout.
“Unless it was like ‘oh we’re 100 percent, we’re fine,’ there was a little question there, so we’ll give him another day and see where we’re at,’’ Kubiak said.
At this point Harris' injury is not considered serious, but the Broncos will take another long look before deciding if they will keep him out of Friday night's preseason opener in Seattle.
In Harris' absence, Bradley Roby worked with the starters on Tuesday. Cornerback Kayvon Webster, who left practice in recent days for what Kubiak described as having “the wind knocked out of him,’’ did some stretching and individual work, but did not participate in the majority of practice on Tuesday.
The Broncos also pulled Emmanuel Sanders, who has missed some practice time with a hamstring injury, shortly after practice started.
“I pulled Emmanuel out about 30 minutes into practice, just didn’t look like himself,’’ Kubiak said. “He wanted to go, but I’m going to be smart with him.’’
Defensive end Derek Wolfe, who had missed several days after suffering a concussion, returned to the practice field and participated.
Linebacker Lerentee McCray (groin) and nose tackle Marvin Austin Jr. (groin) continued to be held out of practice.
