Here is a position-by-position look at who stays, who goes when the Green Bay Packers make their final cuts on Saturday:
QUARTERBACK (3)
Hundley was perhaps the Packers' most impressive rookie this preseason. He completed 45 of 65 passes for 630 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception for a passer rating of 129.7. Tolzien, however, remains the No. 2.
RUNNING BACK (5)
That's right, two fullbacks. Kuhn's leadership and Ripkowski's special-teams play have value. There was some thought to keeping only two halfbacks. In that case, Neal would get cut.
RECEIVER (6)
The Packers did not show any interest in re-signing Jarrett Boykin after he was cut by the Panthers this week. It's tough to keep Abbrederis after he has played in only one preseason game, but the Packers seem to like his potential. If they keep only five, it comes down to White vs. Abbrederis.
TIGHT END (3)
This might be the hardest call on the roster, but the tie goes to the draft pick, Backman (a sixth-rounder). His upside is greater than either Justin Perillo or Mitchell Henry, even if both are more game ready. Henry has gotten more chances with the No. 1 special-teams unit. Maybe they’ll keep Henry as the fourth and go with one less running back or receiver.
OFFENSIVE LINE (8)
If they go with nine, then Josh Walker sticks because he can play multiple spots. The only reason they'd take him over Taylor is because Taylor only plays guard. Barclay struggled early on in his return from ACL surgery but seems to have steadied himself.
DEFENSIVE LINE (5)
Datone Jones and Letroy Guion don't count until their suspensions (one game for Jones and three for Guion) expire. Even without them, it's tough to see Khyri Thornton making it. The third-round pick in 2014 has done nothing all summer for the second straight year. A hamstring injury in the preseason finale last year bought him a year on injured reserve. The other tough cut is sixth-round pick Christian Ringo, but he's been unproductive enough that no one would claim him, allowing him to return on the practice squad.
LINEBACKER (10)
They could get by with just nine, which would mean no Bradford. It probably comes down to him or cornerback Demetri Goodson for the final spot.
CORNERBACK (5)
Goodson, who might have some special-teams value, doesn't make it in part because Gunter has outplayed him on defense and in part because he has been injured. He didn't play in the preseason finale because of a knee injury. Goodson also missed time earlier in camp with a calf injury.
SAFETY (5)
Richardson and Banjo look like core special-teams contributors.
SPECIALIST (3)
Mason Crosby, K
Tim Masthay, P
Brett Goode, LS
The Packers stuck with Crosby through his slump of 2013, and they're likely to do the same with Masthay, who finished with a solid preseason game.
