The Green Bay Packers signed Jared Cook to give them a big, speedy tight end who can get down the middle of the field. It's something they've lacked since Jermichael Finley's career ended in 2013 because of a neck injury. It didn't take long for him to show the difference he can make. In his first practice since coming off the physically unable to perform list following foot surgery in June, Cook caught a deep pass on a seam route and ran away from a pair of defensive backs. His large catch radius could make him a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers.
ESPN's Fantasy Projections: 34.4 catches, 429.5 yards, 3.8 touchdowns
Over or under: The Packers didn't give Cook $2.75 million for him to produce that little. Last year, their top tight end, Richard Rodgers, caught 58 passes. While Cook and Rodgers likely will share time, Cook will be the big-play target. As long as there are no lingering issues with his foot, take the over on all three.
Who else could see time: Richard Rodgers only averaged 8.8 yards per catch last season, but he proved to be a reliable red zone target. He ranked fifth among all NFL tight ends with eight touchdowns. Justin Perillo and Kennard Backman are battling for the third tight end spot.
