INDIANAPOLIS -- Welcome back Andrew Luck. Where have you been all season?
Luck, the Indianapolis Colts' quarterback in the midst of a season-long slump, had his most impressive first half of the season Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
Luck was 12-of-19 for 130 yards and a touchdown after the first 30 minutes of the game. He was playing his first game with new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, who replaced the fired Pep Hamilton last week.
The Colts spent part of practice last week working on underneath and crossing routes. And that's what they used to exploit the NFL's best defense in the first half.
Luck completed passes to six receivers and the Colts even ran their best screen pass of the season -- a 19-yard gain with running back Frank Gore. Luck threw a 3-yard touchdown to tight end Jack Doyle three plays later to extend the Colts' lead to 17-0.
One of the biggest keys for Luck in the first half was turnovers. He entered the game with 13 -- 12 interceptions and a lost fumble -- in just six games this season
Colts coach Chuck Pagano said during a halftime interview with CBS they were playing with a good tempo and that they're getting help in the running game, which opens things up for Luck and his arm.
The Colts had 72 yards rushing in the first half.
