INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts are taking some steps in getting healthy as they try to make a run to catch Houston in the AFC South.
Safety Mike Adams (groin), defensive lineman Henry Anderson (knee), offensive linemen Jack Mewhort (tricep) and Joe Reitz (concussion) were on the practice field Monday. Reitz wore a red non-contact jersey, because he’s going through the concussion protocol.
"I’m back, baby," said Adams, who missed the Nov. 6 game at Green Bay. "I’m back! I’m back!"
Mewhort wouldn’t say that he will definitely play in Sunday’s key division game against Tennessee, but he’s remaining hopeful. He had a setback with his triceps injury days before the Colts' Oct. 30 game against Kansas City.
"I’m cautiously optimistic about this week," Mewhort said. "I was back doing team reps and everything. Felt good. We’ll see where it goes from here."
Reitz, who suffered the concussion against the Chiefs, has to complete the league’s concussion protocol before he’ll be cleared to play. Anderson has been out since the Oct. 16 game at Houston.
The Colts need as many healthy bodies as possible, because they are third in the division behind Tennessee and Houston. Indianapolis is two games behind the first-place Texans and a half game behind the second-place Titans.
