INDIANAPOLIS -- Here’s a look at the Indianapolis Colts' snap count from their victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday:
Offense
Running backs
Trent Richardson 41 of 74
Daniel "Boom" Herron 32 of 74
Note: Richardson played more snaps than Herron despite not starting because of the flu. Don’t be surprised if the Colts continue to keep a similar balance with the snaps between Richardson and Herron the rest of the season, because that’s the same approach they used with Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw during the first part of the season.
Receivers
Reggie Wayne 69 of 74
T.Y. Hilton 57 of 74
Donte Moncrief 30 of 74
Hakeem Nicks 26 of 74
Note: Coach Chuck Pagano talked last week about needing to find a way to get Moncrief more snaps. It’s probably time to say that the transition from Nicks to Moncrief as the team’s No. 3 receiver has officially started, based on the number of snaps they played Sunday.
Tight ends
Coby Fleener 56 of 74
Jack Doyle 39 of 74
Weslye Saunders 5 of 74
Note: Doyle didn’t do any outstanding, but he also didn’t hurt the Colts while sliding in to the second tight end role with Dwayne Allen out with an ankle injury. The goal for the Colts is to hopefully have Allen back for Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.
Offensive line
Joe Reitz 74 of 74
Jack Mewhort 74 of 74
Jonotthan Harrison 74 of 74
Anthony Castonzo 74 of 74
Hugh Thornton 51 of 74
A.Q. Shipley 21 of 74
Xavier Nixon 15 of 74
Note: Thornton struggled before leaving the game with a knee injury. Shipley came in and played guard in his first extensive playing time since losing the starting center position in Week 5. It might be time for the Colts to look at replacing Thornton in the starting lineup, because he hasn’t played well this season.
Defense
Defensive backs
Mike Adams 54 of 54
Vontae Davis 53 of 54
Darius Butler 37 of 54
Sergio Brown 34 of 54
Josh Gordy 32 of 54
LaRon Landry 20 of 54
Colt Anderson 14 of 54
Loucheiz Purifoy 6 of 54
Note: Davis' strong season continued with an interception of Blake Bortles in the first quarter. Already without Greg Toler (concussion), injuries in the secondary during the game forced the Colts to go deep on their roster at defensive back. Anderson, a safety, was lined up defending Jacksonville’s slot receiver. Landry only played 20 snaps, but he was impressive during that time, recording 1.5 sacks.
Linebackers
D'Qwell Jackson 53 of 54
Jerrell Freeman 53 of 54
Erik Walden 44 of 54
Bjoern Werner 42 of 54
Jonathan Newsome 16 of 54
Andy Studebaker 6 of 54
Josh McNary 1 of 54
Note: Jackson (13 tackles) and Freeman (9 tackles) combined for 22 tackles. Jackson also had a sack, quarterback hit and recovered a fumble in his best all-around game of the season.
Defensive line
Ricky Jean Francois 39 of 54
Cory Redding 36 of 54
Art Jones 29 of 54
Montori Hughes 13 of 54
Josh Chapman 12 of 54
Note: Jones’ return from an ankle injury helped the Colts hold the Jaguars to only 80 yards rushing. Hughes had a tackle for a loss and batted down one of Bortles’ passes.
