JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Rookie running back T.J. Yeldon is going to have to wait another day to find out if he’s finally going to make his NFL debut.
Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Thursday that he’s going to wait until just before kickoff to decide if the second-round pick will play against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Saturday (8 p.m., ET). Yeldon is still dealing with a sprained finger that kept him out of the preseason opener against Pittsburgh.
"We’d like to see him, but I think it’s risk-reward," Bradley said. "More err on caution.
"Could he reinjure it? He’s made such good progress. What would it take to reinjure it or put him in kind of an unfortunate position again? What’s the chances of those things happening? More discussion like that."
Bradley also said defensive tackle Roy Miller (knee) will be a game-time decision as well, but "we expect him to play."
There were no surprises among the players who Bradley said definitely would not play, though defensive end Chris Clemons is the only one sitting who isn’t injured. He just came off the active/non-football injury list on Monday and had been limited in practice all week and wasn’t likely to play anyway.
Receiver Marqise Lee (hamstring), cornerback Peyton Thompson (hamstring), safety James Sample (arm), safety Johnathan Cyprien (finger), offensive tackle Brennan Williams (knee), tight end Julius Thomas (hand) and receiver Neal Sterling (hamstring) are the injured players who will not play.
