INDIANAPOLIS – Here’s a quick look at Jacksonville Jaguars players who are up and those who are down following the 16-13 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
UP
RB T.J. Yeldon: The rookie had his best day as a pro, rushing for 105 yards and averaging 4.8 yards per carry. He had a 36-yard run in overtime but the Jaguars couldn’t take advantage.
LB Dan Skuta: He set up the Jaguars’ first-half touchdown by forcing a fumble, knocking the ball loose from Josh Robinson. S Johnathan Cyprien recovered at the Indianapolis 44-yard line, and four plays later the Jaguars took a 10-3 lead.
S Josh Evans: The Colts were driving for the go-ahead score midway through the fourth quarter when he forced Frank Gore to fumble at the 4-yard line. DT Abry Jones recovered the ball in the end zone.
DOWN
K Jason Myers: The rookie missed two potential game-winning field goals, a 53-yarder wide right at the end of regulation and then a 48-yarder wide left with 8:13 to play in overtime.
CB Nick Marshall: The rookie from Auburn committed two mistakes on special teams, including one that could have been disastrous. He tried to make a running catch of a punt in traffic and got hit as he caught the ball and it bounced free. Luckily, Demetrius McCray pounced on it to keep possession. Marshall also was penalized 5 yards for running out of bounds on his own on punt coverage. The Jaguars had to kick again, and the Colts ended up getting an extra 17 yards to start their drive.
S James Sample: The rookie, starting in place of the injured Sergio Brown, committed a pass-interference penalty on third down that extended a Colts drive that eventually ended with Matt Hasselbeck’s touchdown pass to tie the game at 10-10 late in the first half. The Jaguars committed three other penalties on that drive that gave the Colts first downs, but the drive could have ended had Sample not wiped out an incompletion with his penalty.
