The roster of the Kansas City Chiefs is at the NFL limit of 90 players. While they could still make a personnel move or two, the roster they have now is at least close to the one they will take to training camp this summer at Missouri Western State University.
Here, we'll continue a series that looks at their roster by position. This time, it's the offensive line. We started with the running backs, quarterbacks, tight ends and wide receivers.
With the Chiefs last year: Jeff Allen, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Eric Fisher, Zach Fulton, Eric Kush, Jarrod Pughsley, Donald Stephenson.
New to the Chiefs: Paul Fanaika, Garrett Frye, Ben Grubbs, Mitch Morse, Daniel Munyer, Melvin Meggs, Kelvin Palmer, Derek Sherrod.
Analysis: There is much for the Chiefs to decide here. As many as three starting spots are up for grabs with only Fisher at left tackle and Grubbs at left guard as sure things to be regulars. Even at those spots, there is some uncertainty. The Chiefs are waiting on Fisher to become the player they thought they were getting in 2013 when they made him the first overall pick in the draft. Grubbs, a former Pro Bowler, is new after being acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Saints. At the other positions, it's possible and even likely the Chiefs will have new starters. Kush, who has played little in his two years in Kansas City, and Morse, a rookie, are the leading candidates to start at center. Fulton, a starter last season, is among the top contenders to start at right guard, but Fanaika, signed as a free agent from the Arizona Cardinals, or even Morse could wind up there. The most likely starter at right tackle is Stephenson, a backup last season, or Allen, who missed all but the season-opener in 2014 because of an elbow injury. The Chiefs will have better depth than they did last season, particularly at guard.
