NAPA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders are winding down their time in training camp.
The Raiders are planning to complete their time in wine country this week with practices Wednesday and Thursday before heading to play Minnesota on Saturday night. When the Raiders return, the plan is to break camp and start preparing for their regular season at their Alameda facility.
New coach Jack Del Rio is pleased with the work the Raiders have gotten in nearly three weeks in Napa.
"I think this has been a really productive time up here in Napa. It's a beautiful place to hold camp," Del Rio said. "It's great to have our fans out. We've got terrific fans out here supporting us every day. It's been good. It's been a good, productive time. We just want to finish strong. We want to finish this preparation, finish this last week of camp and then travel for the first time and do a good job with that."
Del Rio said a key component has emerged in camp.
"I'm starting to see who the leaders are," Del Rio said. "There are a few guys that are leaders because they've been here a long time, or they've been in the league a long time. Then, you start to see who the other core leaders of your team are as they emerge and develop. That's all good stuff."
In other Raiders' notes:
Backup running back Trent Richardson continued to get some work at kick returner. The Raiders are trying to figure out their returners.
As his protocol, Del Rio didn't have much to say about his injured players. He said tight end Clive Walford and linebacker Sio Moore are still "day-to-day." Both injuries have lingered.
Former Fresno State teammates, Derek Carr and Devon Wylie, worked extra after practice. The Raiders signed Wylie, a receiver/returner with eight NFL games experience, Tuesday.
