ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Veteran free safety Reggie Nelson returned to Oakland Raiders practice on Monday, after working with a trainer on a side field during the week and sitting out Saturday night's exhibition against the Tennessee Titans.
Left guard Kelechi Osemele and linebacker Neiron Ball both worked out during the stretch period but neither had on a helmet for the helmets-and-shorts practice.
Fullback Marcel Reece was practicing after sitting out the Titans game with a groin issue. He will sit out the first three regular season games of the season as part of the four-game suspension handed out by the NFL last December.
In the wake of the Raiders' problems in stopping the run game this preseason, coach Jack Del Rio said he was more pleased with the positives than discouraged by the negatives that came out of the game.
"Really happy with the way Derek Carr has shown command of the offense," Del Rio said. "The other night, I thought the whole world got a little glimpse of it. I feel like watching him conduct himself in meetings throughout the offseason and the way he's taken charge, we've given him more freedom in the offense and he's really taken that and done a great job with it.
"Super prepared and the timing on some of the throws and the decision making and those things, I'm just very pleased with that. I'd start there."
Anything else?
"The way the team works; I think we have a good work ethic," Del Rio said. "I think that's important to have. Those have been real positives for us."
