SAN DIEGO -- The Chargers announced on Saturday that the team signed offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles from the practice squad to the active roster.
In order to make room for Sirles, the team released safety Adrian Phillips. Sirles joined the Chargers as an undrafted rookie free agent in May. He was released during final roster cuts in August, and later added to the team's practice squad.
At 6-6 and 315 pounds, the University of Nebraska product was a two-time All-Big Ten selection for the Cornhuskers, earning honorable mention as a senior and second-team as a junior. He played in 53 career games with 41 starts.
With offensive lineman Ryan Miller questionable for Sunday's game due to a groin injury, Sirles provides depth at interior offensive line for the Chargers. Phillips being released also is a sign that safety Jahleel Addae will be active for the first time since suffering a concussion against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 23.
