DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins (6-5) held their final full practice of the week in preparation for Monday’s game against the New York Jets (2-9).
Here are some notes and observations from Friday’s practice:
Dolphins starting cornerback Cortland Finnegan wasn’t present during the portion of practice open to the media. This is not a good sign for Miami’s cornerback depth. Finnegan has been limited all week with an ankle injury that’s kept him out of the past two games. His status is definitely up in the air after missing Friday’s practice.
If Finnegan cannot play, the Dolphins are down to questionable options as the starter opposite Pro Bowl corner Brent Grimes. With Jamar Taylor also ruled out with a shoulder injury, it leaves rookie Walt Aikens, Lowell Rose or R.J. Stanford, who just signed this week, as potential starters.
The Dolphins also were without backup guard Nate Garner during the media portion of practice. Garner has an illness, according to the team’s official injury report.
The Dolphins will have a light walk-through on Saturday and then travel to New York on Sunday. The game against the Jets will be at 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday night.
