DAVIE, Fla. – Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake isn’t the only injury concern for the Miami Dolphins. Interim head coach Dan Campbell said Friday that starting right tackle Ja'Wuan James is expected to miss at least the team's next game against the Buffalo Bills with a toe injury.
“Certainly this [upcoming] week of practice doesn't look good, I would say,” Campbell said. “But I don’t necessarily know how long he will be out yet.”
The Palm Beach Post reported James could miss four to six weeks. Campbell said the team doesn't have a timeline established, but also didn’t rule out that prognosis.
“It could be,” Campbell said. “We’re kind of looking at all the options, all the scenarios. We know it’s not good, but we just don’t know quite how bad it is yet.”
Backup Jason Fox is expected to get his third start of the season on Nov. 8 against Buffalo. He also filled in for Dolphins left tackle Branden Albert earlier this season when Albert had a hamstring injury.
“He cares a ton and he's a hard worker,” Fox said of James. “You hate to see a guy like him go down, or anybody. ... It's next guy up and you keep playing.”
In other injury news, Miami first-round pick DeVante Parker’s foot injury is “fine,” Campbell said. Parker reinjured his foot Thursday against the New England Patriots and didn't finish the game.
