DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins cornerback Chris Culliver is getting antsy. He's been sidelined all season on the team’s physically unable to perform list while rehabbing a torn ACL.
However, the time has arrived for the Dolphins to make a decision with the veteran cornerback. The window is now open through Nov. 9 for Culliver to be activated off the "PUP" list or remained out the rest of the season.
The expectation is that Culliver will be activated either for this week’s game against the Jets or next week against San Diego.
"I’m healthy and ready to rock," Culliver said. "I’m ready to get it in and get it out there. I’m ready to get activated and ready to get some motion going."
Miami certainly can use depth at cornerback. Rookie cornerback Xavien Howard (knee) remains out and starters Byron Maxwell and Tony Lippett have been inconsistent.
Culliver, if healthy, will bring a veteran presence and playmaking ability to the secondary. He has seven career interceptions and three forced fumbles.
Culliver said he trusts his knee again, and now he’s working his way into football shape. He practiced with the team for the past two weeks.
"Maybe last week I was two steps behind. This week I’m a lot better," Culliver said. "You just keep [getting reps]."
Here are some other notes on the Dolphins:
Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones had successful shoulder surgery and said Wednesday that he expects to be sidelined for four months. Jones also said he had a torn labrum, but expects to "come back better than ever" in 2017.
Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said he spent the bye week getting away from football. He didn't watch any games, and Suh said he's ready for the second half of the season.
The Dolphins have lost four straight home games to the Jets, including one designated "home" game in London. Miami’s last win at home against New York was in 2011.
