GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Green Bay Packers' 42-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night at Lambeau Field:
A new message: If you think Aaron Rodgers is feeling good with two victories after he told everyone to R-E-L-A-X after the Packers' 1-2 start, you've got the Packers quarterback all wrong. In fact, he thought the Packers were "a little stagnant" on offense in a game in which he completed only 12 of 17 passes for 156 yards despite three touchdown passes. "I think we have some considerable improvements to make moving forward," Rodgers said. "I mean, this was a home game for us. Defense played really well. Offensively we started pretty good. Two touchdowns in three drives, and then we kind of went stagnant for a while, so that's disappointing."
Opening a can of …: Defensive end Mike Daniels heard a couple of reporters saying the Packers were credited with 16 quarterback hits (and six sacks) on quarterback Christian Ponder, and he wanted to see for himself, so he grabbed the stat sheet. A few minutes later, he looked down at his locker and noticed an unopened pop can. He looked at the label and saw that it was called: "Whoop A--" by the Jones Soda Co., something he found humorous. “I didn’t open it yet,” said Daniels, who had 1.5 sacks. When someone said he already did that on the field, he replied: "That's probably why we got those sacks tonight." Defensive tackle Letroy Guion, who also had 1.5 sacks, had a can in his locker, too. Neither one knew who put them there.
One-catch wonder: Jordy Nelson, who came into the game leading the NFL in both receptions and receiving yards, caught only one passes. But it was a 66-yard touchdown on a play-action shot pass in the first quarter. When asked whether he was OK with just one catch, Nelson said: "As long as it's 66 yards and a touchdown."
