CLEVELAND -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Cleveland Browns' 31-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Recognizing the moment: Enjoying the franchise's biggest win over Pittsburgh since 1989 was easy for the Browns, who finally patched together a complete game. "Can't understate how important this win was for us," coach Mike Pettine said. The Browns held a top-10 Steelers offense to three points for most of the game. (Pittsburgh's only touchdown was in garbage time.) "We really feel like something's happening here," cornerback Joe Haden said.
Run this way: After today's three rushing touchdowns, the Browns have three games with multiple rushing scores this year -- compared to three total from 2011 to 2013. The Browns feel confident this is the team's strength, and the rushing defense staved off Pittsburgh's early push. "We knew we could run the ball, we could do whatever we wanted with these guys, so we did," running back Isaiah Crowell said.
Misery over Mack: Players were distraught over the injury to center Alex Mack, who coaches fear broke his leg. Guard John Greco acquitted himself well as a stand-in center, but the presence of the Pro Bowler Mack will be missed. "It was pretty emotional, for me especially," left tackle Joe Thomas said. "We have played every snap together for six years."
