MINNEAPOLIS -- Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who injured his hip in the Minnesota Vikings' loss to the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 2, said he still wasn't completely healthy on Sunday in a loss to the Detroit Lions. Patterson had been listed as probable for the game, but was taken out at several different points on Sunday when his injury was bothering him.
Patterson caught just two passes for 15 yards, and his first backfield carry since Week 1 went for a loss of 2 yards. He had beaten his man on a post route in the first quarter, but safety Glover Quin picked off Teddy Bridgewater's throw in the end zone.
"I don’t feel like I’m 100 percent. I should be next week," Patterson said. "Just keep getting treatment, just keep grinding in treatment and do what it takes."
Patterson added he didn't think he needed to take any time off with the injury. "[Last] Thursday [against the Packers], I sat out the whole second half, but I don't feel I need to let that happen again."
Charles Johnson took some of Patterson's snaps as he struggled with his hip injury, but no matter who was on the field, the Vikings' receivers struggled to get involved. Bridgewater completed just 11 of the 23 passes he targeted for receivers on Sunday, and while the quarterback said he needed to go through his progressions more quickly to find Patterson and Greg Jennings, Patterson also said the receivers need to do a better job separating from defensive backs.
"It’s not them shutting me down," Patterson said. "Some DB’s are smarter than the other ones. Some of them run the routes with you, some do more studying than others. It’s just our receivers and whole offense, we've just got to do better as a team."
