KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Kansas City Chiefs' 31-13 win over the Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium:
Running back Jamaal Charles left the lineup briefly to be checked for a concussion. He took a hit to the head in the third quarter, and the Chiefs removed him from the game to be examined. Charles was eventually cleared to return. Charles reported no concussion symptoms, but the Chiefs were being cautious after he took a hit to the head in an October game against San Diego and the next day reported concussion symptoms.
The Chiefs reported injuries to linebacker Josh Mauga (oblique strain), cornerback Sean Smith (cramps) and defensive lineman Jaye Howard (shoulder sprain).
Linebacker Justin Houston, who had his 17th sack of the season, left the game for one play with an apparent injury. But Houston merely had been poked in the eye.
