NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Observed and heard in the Indianapolis Colts' locker room after their 27-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at LP Field.
Three straight 11-win seasons: The Colts didn’t like to use the word “rebuild” when general manager Ryan Grigson, coach Chuck Pagano and quarterback Andrew Luck came on board in 2012. They preferred to say they were “reloading.” The Colts have taken advantage of playing in the AFC South in winning 11 games in each of the past three seasons, to go with three straight playoff appearances. “There are guys that were here in 2012 with some additions along the way, but [I'm] extremely proud of what everybody in that room has been able to accomplish,” Pagano said. The Colts have won 13 straight division games.
Wayne plans to play: Receiver Reggie Wayne left Sunday's game in the first half with a groin injury. He’ll be evaluated Monday in Indianapolis. The 36-year-old receiver said he plans to be out there for the Colts’ playoff game next weekend. “I’ve been here before,” Wayne said. “I know what I have to do. I was getting treatment anyway. Ice tub, ice cup, anything with ice, I’ll have it on there. It’ll have to be hanging off my body for me not to play this week.” Wayne, who is already playing with a torn triceps, injured his groin on a catch-and-run 80-yard reception, the longest of his 14-year career. He stayed on the ground momentarily before making his way to the sideline.
Nicks misses incentive: Receiver Hakeem Nicks, who has been inconsistent in his first season with the Colts, needed to catch a touchdown to earn a $250,000 incentive. Veteran Matt Hasselbeck tried to get Nicks paid when he threw a pass to him in the end zone. The pass was incomplete, but it looked like Nicks was interfered with on the play.
Other injuries: Wayne isn’t the only player who will be evaluated Monday. Pagano said linebacker Andy Studebaker (hand), offensive lineman A.Q. Shipley (ankle), safety Sergio Brown (hand) and offensive lineman Hugh Thornton (shoulder) will all be checked out too.
