RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks have activated Tharold Simon off the physically-unable-to-perform list, helping the team's depth at cornerback with Richard Sherman and Will Blackmon still nursing injuries.
The team made two more roster moves to address its thin secondary Monday, signing defensive backs Jeremy Crayton and Keelan Johnson. Defensive tackle Jimmy Staten and linebacker Dakorey Johnson were waived to make room on the 90-man roster.
Sherman didn't play in Seattle's preseason opener Friday because of what coach Pete Carroll described as an issue with his hip flexor. Blackmon also sat with a groin injury. Neither are practicing Monday. Mohammed Seisay injured his groin in Friday's game, adding to the Seahawks' depth issues at cornerback.
Simon had been on PUP while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. The Seahawks have yet to announce his activation, but that's merely a formality as he's practicing with the team Monday.
