Going into Week 1, it does not appear that the Seattle Seahawks are going to treat rookie Tyler Lockett with kid gloves.
Lockett was electrifying during the preseason, scoring three touchdowns of 60-plus yards in four games -- one on a kickoff return, one on a punt return and one on a reception. During the spring, some analysts labeled Lockett (5-foot-10, 182 pounds) as a slot receiver. But on his touchdown catch in the preseason, Lockett was lined up outside, and coach Pete Carroll said the team won't hesitate to use him in a variety of spots.
"Really, we haven’t seen anything from him where we need to restrict him and not put him outside or match him up in certain ways," Carroll said. "We really like him all around, and he’s still developing with us. He’s still in a big process of developing the things that we can count on from him and learning him and all of that. But right now, we’re not restricting him anywhere. He’ll play in all spots in this game."
LYNCH'S JERSEY SWAP NO BIG DEAL
Carroll was also asked about Marshawn Lynch's decision Thursday to wear Kam Chancellor's jersey during practice.
"I thought it was a statement that all of us understand," he said. "We all wish Kam was here, so I had no problem with it. We don’t need to keep doing it, but I think it was just that.
"It’s over. It’s done. It’s just not a big deal. You can try to make it a big deal, but it wasn’t."
During Friday's session, Lynch was back to wearing No. 24, and Chancellor was still missing.
NO MOODY SIGNING YET
Linebacker Nick Moody tweeted that he's on his way to Seattle, but the signing has not been made official.
"That’s an early report," Carroll said. "He’s not even here yet. We haven’t even talked to him in person yet, so you’ll see what happens. It’s going to take us a couple days to get him here."
Moody (6-1, 245) was selected in the sixth round of the 2013 draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He's played in 20 games and made two starts the past two seasons.
