Every weekday morning, we'll round up local and national Seattle Seahawks-related links.
Defensive end Michael Bennett said he understands why some people disagree with Colin Kaepernick's decision to sit during the National Anthem, but Bennett support's Kaepernick's right to express his beliefs. Via Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times:
“I think it’s a guy standing up for what he believes in,” Bennett told The Seattle Times following Sunday’s practice. “I think this is America, so he has the right to have any type of beliefs he wants. Anybody that has a problem with it, I think they shouldn’t have a problem with it, because at the end of the day, it’s freedom of speech, and freedom of action, and that’s what makes America great. He’s just doing what he wants to do.
“I support him and all the stuff he’s doing. If that’s his beliefs, he has the right to believe in whatever he wants to believe in.”
Brady Henderson of 710 ESPN Seattle caught up with wide receiver Paul Richardson:
“It’s been great. I think the coaching staff has been doing a great job of slowly working me in and just gaining the trust back from my teammates,” he said. “I just want them to see me in practice making plays and seeing that I can do those things that I was brought here to do. I like vibing with them and I like the responses that I’m getting back. I just want to continue to do right to help us.”
Stephen Cohen of SeattlePI.com predicts the first round of Seahawks cuts, including center Patrick Lewis:
Lewis started nine games for Seattle in 2015, but with Justin Britt's firm hold on the starting position and sixth-round pick Joey Hunt emerging as a cheaper backup option, Lewis became expendable.
