RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks had some good injury news Thursday as receiver Doug Baldwin (groin), left tackle Russell Okung (calf) and cornerback Byron Maxwell (calf) returned to practice on a limited basis, an indication that all three might be able to play Sunday against the New York Giants.
Starting center Max Unger, who was out Wednesday taking care of a personal matter, was a full participant in practice and is expected to play for the first time in five weeks. Defensive end O'Brien Schofield also returned to practice after missing Wednesday’s practice with what was listed as a head injury.
One small surprise was running back Marshawn Lynch not practicing because of a listed calf injury. Lynch took his usual day off Wednesday, but no injury was listed. It would be a huge surprise if Lynch doesn’t play this weekend.
Defensive end Michael Bennett (toe) didn’t practice, but he talked to reporters Thursday and likely was only taking a day to rest.
But the situation with starting left guard James Carpenter (ankle) and starting strong safety Kam Chancellor (groin) remains uncertain, as both players missed practice again Thursday.
If Carpenter doesn’t play Sunday, its likely Alvin Bailey would start at left guard. Jeron Johnson, who returned this week after missing the Oakland game with a concussion, would start for Chancellor.
Backup center Stephen Schilling (knee) and outside linebacker Malcolm Smith (groin) also didn’t practice. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Smith would not play this week.
