TAMPA, Fla. – Although his career appeared to be stalled, defensive end Da’Quan Bowers is getting another chance with the Buccaneers.
The team announced Monday that it has signed Bowers, who spent the previous four seasons in Tampa Bay. Bowers had been a free agent since March and drew very little interest on the open market.
That’s because Bowers’ career has been a disappointment. A second-round draft pick in 2011, Bowers had only seven sacks while playing in 50 games. The Bucs tried to hand Bowers a starting job, but he was never able to hold onto it.
This time around, Bowers isn’t a lock to make the roster. The Bucs are deep at defensive end with George Johnson, Jacquies Smith, Larry English, Lawrence Sidbury and William Gholston.
