As fans of the NBA, or sports in general, most of us have a natural ability to know the ages of the players we watch every night. We can estimate back to when their career started and do the math to come up with a ballpark figure of how old they are.
But if there's a player in the NBA who might even fool the "guess my age, win a prize" guy at the local carnival, it's probably San Antonio's Tony Parker.
So... how old is Parker? 38? 36? 34?
It might seem that the Spurs point guard has been around forever, but believe it or not, he's just 32. What's easy to forget is that Parker entered the NBA back in 2001 as a baby-faced 19-year-old, and the amazing part of all this is that before last season he showed few signs of slowing down.
Just two seasons back, in fact, he posted one of the best years of his career, averaging 20.3 points and 7.6 assists per 36 minutes. That slipped to 16.7 points and 5.7 assists per 36 minutes last season, and is down to 15.1 points and 4.8 assists this season.
"The hamstring is driving Parker's woes, but what's uncertain is whether that's going to improve much over the rest of the season," said ESPN Insider Bradford Doolittle. "Clearly the Spurs in general have eased into the season after two straight runs to the Finals while battling numerous injury issues."
