Los Angeles Kings left winger Tanner Pearson exited in the second period of Saturday night's 5-4 shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets at Staples Center with a lower-body injury and did not return.
According to the Los Angeles Times, he suffered a broken left ankle and is scheduled to have additional testing done on Sunday.
Pearson slid hard into the end boards feet-first and hobbled off the ice at 11:25 of the second period without putting any weight on his left leg.
Pearson is tied with right wingers Tyler Toffoli and Justin Williams for second on the team in scoring with 12 goals, and was one of six rookies selected to participate in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Jan. 24.
Toffoli also sat out Saturday's game after he was diagnosed with mononucleosis. He is out indefinitely.
