INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts safety Mike Adams suffered an ankle injury early in the second quarter of Sunday's 27-24 win over the Denver Broncos and did not return.
The injury happened after Adams intercepted a Peyton Manning pass that was tipped. Adams tried to gain some yards after the interception, but he quickly fell to the ground in pain. Adams had to be helped off the field by a trainer and linebacker D'Qwell Jackson.
Adams is the backbone of the Colts' secondary. The interception was Adams' fifth of the season, which tied him with Oakland's Charles Woodson for the NFL lead.
Colt Anderson replaced Adams at safety.
Also Sunday, Colts starting rookie defensive tackle Henry Anderson left in the third quarter with a knee sprain and did not return.
