Player: Edwin Jackson
Position: Linebacker
College: Georgia Southern
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 230 pounds
Stat to know: Jackson had 192 of his 218 career tackles in last two seasons.
Road to the roster: Jackson knows how to overcome the odds when he’s not a team’s preferred choice. He went from walk-on at Georgia Southern to its leading tackler and proved throughout the 2014 season that he could play against better competition, as the Eagles moved from FCS to FBS competition. That’s where he could set himself apart. Despite being shorter by traditional inside linebacker standards, Jackson has a reputation for being a sure-handed tackler -- an area that plagued the Arizona Cardinals last season. Arizona was interested in Jackson before the draft but he’s fortunate because he’s competing at a position that doesn’t have much stability. He can play the same type of role that Glenn Carson did a year ago.
