TEMPE, Ariz. – Four injured Arizona Cardinals will begin training camp on Friday on the physically unable to perform list.
The Cardinals announced Tuesday that safety Tyrann Mathieu (knee), defensive tackle Frostee Rucker (foot), cornerback Justin Bethel (foot) and linebacker Zack Wagenmann (foot) will be on the active PUP list to start training camp. Players report Thursday and the first practice is Friday.
Players on the preseason PUP list count toward the Cardinals 90-man roster but the upside to the preseason PUP list is that the players can be elevated to the active roster at any time.
Mathieu tore his ACL in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles, his second major knee injury in three seasons. Rucker had offseason surgery to repair his right ankle, which he injured in Week 11. Bethel also had offseason surgery to repair his foot, but said during organized team activities that he plans on returning for training camp. Wagenmann hurt his foot during offseason practice.
