The Baltimore Ravens are making a change at their No. 3 quarterback spot, releasing Keith Wenning on Tuesday.
Wenning, a sixth-round pick from a year ago, disappointed in training camp and in limited preseason play. He lacked ideal arm strength and spent last season on the practice squad.
Bryn Renner, who went undrafted last year, looked more impressive at last weekend's rookie minicamp than Wenning. Renner was a three-year starter at North Carolina.
The Ravens will likely go with two quarterbacks (Joe Flacco and Matt Schaub) on the 53-man roster. Renner has the edge over undrafted rookie Jerry Lovelocke to get the No. 3 spot and go on the practice squad.
Wenning is the only pick from the Ravens' 2014 draft not on the roster. He was selected when Gary Kubiak was the team's offensive coordinator.
The Ravens also released tight end Phillip Supernaw and undrafted rookie linebacker Darius Allen. Supernaw, who played under Kubiak in Houston and Baltimore, could reunite with him again in Denver after the Broncos lost third-round pick Jeff Heuerman to a season-ending injury.
To fill those spots, the Ravens signed three undrafted rookies: Alabama guard Leon Brown, James Madison wide receiver Daniel Brown and Rhode Island inside linebacker Andrew Bose.
