The Buffalo Bills ran the ball the second-most of any NFL team last season, but that doesn't mean they are devoid of fantasy options at receiver. In fact, they have one of the best. Here are some thoughts based on ESPN's 2016 fantasy projections:
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 130.9 targets, 72.5 receptions, 1,158.7 receiving yards, 7.5 touchdowns
Over or under: Over. This entirely depends on Watkins' ability to stay healthy. If he can stay on the field, he should blow past these projections for yards and touchdowns. He caught nine touchdowns in 12 full games played last season, so 7.5 seems low in this case. Watkins has all the potential to be a fantasy star.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 76.7 targets, 46.7 receptions, 551.2 receiving yards, 3.7 touchdowns
Over or under: Over. These numbers are almost exactly in line with Woods' numbers from last season, when he had to fight with Percy Harvin for early-season playing time. He was also dealing with the effects of a groin injury through the balance of the season. Woods isn't going to light up the fantasy circuit, but the Bills don't have a No. 3 receiver to challenge him. Unless Charles Clay turns in a surprise fantasy season, Woods should get the opportunities to surpass his production from last season.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 27.1 targets, 14.6 receptions, 207.5 receiving yards, 1.6 touchdowns
Over or under: Under. There is a gigantic cliff in terms of fantasy projections after Watkins and Woods, and Lewis has the highest projections because of a strong spring that had him as the favorite to land the No. 3 job entering training camp. But through more than two weeks of training camp, Lewis has yet to separate himself from the pack, and veterans such as Marquise Goodwin and Greg Salas are making a push for playing time. Who exactly earns the No. 3 job is still a toss-up, but I don't think Lewis has the inside track at the moment.
Who else could see time: Goodwin and Salas both have potential to earn targets but are still major fantasy gambles. Walter Powell could creep onto the radar if he wins the Bills' kick-return battle, but he's a fringe fantasy player at best. The Bills simply don't have any safe fantasy draft picks after Watkins and Woods.
