CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carolina Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson and running back Jonathan Stewart are expected to play on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints barring a setback.
Both were listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, Johnson with a hamstring and Stewart with a knee.
Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who missed the first two games and all four preseason games with a foot injury, is listed as probable.
Rivera said keeping five tackles on the active roster seems heavy. Kyle Love, Kawann Short, Dwan Edwards and Colin Cole have been the active tackles with Lotulelei out.
Wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is listed as out. Rivera said a decision hasn’t been made on whether to bring Brenton Bersin up from the practice squad or go with the rotation of Ted Ginn Jr., Philly Brown, Devin Funchess and Kevin Norwood, with third string quarterback Joe Webb the fifth receiver.
