The Chicago Bears released offensive tackle Paul Cornick on Thursday because of a failed physical, according to the NFL’s official transaction wire.
The news of Cornick’s release comes less than 48 hours after the Bears claimed him off waivers via the Denver Broncos.
Cornick, who appeared in 12 games with six starts (three at right tackle, three at tight end) last year in Denver, was thought to be a serious contender to earn a roster spot due to his history with Bears head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
Cornick originally entered the NFL with the New York Jets in 2012 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of North Dakota State.
