BEREA, Ohio -- A look at the Cleveland Browns' snap counts in their 26-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 13:
OFFENSE (69 snaps)
Quarterback: Brian Hoyer 53, Johnny Manziel 13
Running back: Isaiah Crowell 45, Terrance West 24
Fullback: Ray Agnew 26
Receiver: Josh Gordon 53, Andrew Hawkins 46, Miles Austin 38, Taylor Gabriel 19, Travis Benjamin 9
Tight end: Jim Dray 67, Ryan Taylor 17, Gary Barnidge 1
Tackle: Joe Thomas 69, Mitchell Schwartz 69
Guard: John Greco 69, Joel Bitonio 69
Center: Ryan Seymour 51, Nick McDonald 18
Thoughts: Gordon again leads all receivers in snaps, but I didn’t think they got near as much from him as they could have. He needs chemistry with the quarterback and he needs to play like every play is his last. Didn’t see that every time against the Bills. ... Manziel’s 13 plays were a season and career high, obviously. ... Amazing that West had such a negative impact on the game given he had about half the snaps as Crowell. ... Crowell appears to be the team’s back of choice, but it’s very possible Glenn Winston gets playing time at running back this week. ... The last time that seemed possible, Winston said he got one rep at running back after a practice, then smiled and added: “More than ever before.” The state of the offense is summed up by the two Ryans: Taylor got 17 snaps at tight end, Seymour 51 at center. ... Nothing against either guy, but that’s the third tight end and fourth center getting meaningful time.
DEFENSE (65 snaps)
Cornerback: Joe Haden 65, Buster Skrine 63, K'Waun Williams 36
Safety: Donte Whitner 65, Jim Leonhard 65, Jordan Poyer 11
Outside linebacker: Paul Kruger 55, Barkevious Mingo 46, Jabaal Sheard 28, Eric Martin1
Inside linebacker: Craig Robertson 65, Chris Kirksey 42, Tank Carder 1
Defensive line: Desmond Bryant 52, Billy Winn 29, Ahtyba Rubin 39, Ishmaa’ily Kitchen 40, Sione Fua 11
Thoughts: The defense got a ton of contributions from Leonhard at safety (in place of Tashaun Gipson) and Robertson (again for Karlos Dansby). Leonhard had an end zone interception and five tackles; Robertson a team-high 11 tackles. Both did tremendous work replacing important players. ... Bryant had 52 snaps for the second week in a row. ... The Browns took some of Winn’s snaps and gave them to Kitchen, who lined up outside. ... It was a good defensive effort that went for naught. ... The last seven games the Browns have forced 17 turnovers. ... There is no tangible way to measure what the lack of production from Justin Gilbert means to the defense. The plan was to play the eighth overall pick opposite Haden, then let Skrine be the nickelback. ... Gilbert's struggles derailed that plan. The Browns are lucky to have found Williams.
