The Cleveland Browns defense is not merely a work in progress, it's a work in progress with several unknowns.

Over or under: The Browns have two new safeties. Their best cornerback is coming back from ankle surgery. Their second cornerback has struggled defending the deep ball. The pass rush is a mystery. The run defense has not succeeded since the Spanish-American War. The defensive line lost its best player to a pre-camp injury. And there is no impact player at linebacker. Other than that the Browns have a great defense. Lost in the focus on Robert Griffin III joining the Browns as quarterback is the reality that their defense is a large unknown. Early in camp Ray Horton said his defense would be a "kaleidoscope," meaning it would change and adjust based on who is playing and where. So the Browns have tried Barkevious Mingo inside. When a team is tinkering and adjusting in camp it's not a great sign. The Browns have too many weaknesses as they try to stop people. Best to avoid this unit when picking fantasy teams. If it comes through as the season goes on, it can be picked up during the season. The only potential upside would be the punt return ability of Corey Coleman. But taking a defense/special teams based on the potential of one player is simply foolish.
