PHILADELPHIA -- Mackenzy Bernadeau will replace Ronald Leary at left guard Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles with Leary unable to play because of a groin strain.
Leary had held out hope of playing, but the coaches and medical staff did not give it serious consideration. Rookie La'el Collins will be Bernadeau’s backup and saw some action with the first team during the week in practice.
Brice Butler, who was acquired Tuesday in a trade with the Oakland Raiders, is active as the Cowboys’ fifth receiver with Dez Bryant out following foot surgery.
As a result, the Cowboys continue to go with seven defensive linemen, with Davon Coleman replacing Randy Gregory’s spot in the 46-man roster. Defensive tackle Ken Bishop and defensive end Ryan Russell are inactive.
Tight end James Hanna, who did not make the trip to Philadelphia because of a knee injury, and running back Christine Michael round out the Cowboys' inactives.
