The competition among Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch for the starting quarterback job in Denver could be nearing resolution.
While Broncos coach Gary Kubiak has yet to announce the rotation for Saturday night's preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, he made clear Monday that a decision in the quarterback competition, along with other position battles, was looming.
"I've got so many questions to get answered on this team," Kubiak said. "I can get a lot of them answered. This is a big week for this team. I told them that.
"We had a very competitive practice today. We're going to have two against the 49ers this week and we play them on Saturday. You're getting to the point where you've got to answer those things."
The Broncos will hold joint practices with the 49ers on Wednesday and Thursday before playing them Saturday.
Sanchez started last Thursday's 22-0 win at Chicago. He was followed by Siemian and Lynch. All three played well.
Siemian had a strong performance during Monday's training camp practice, twice beating Denver's vaunted defense with downfield passes for touchdowns during team drills.
He hit a streaking Emmanuel Sanders in stride after the Broncos wide receiver got a step on cornerback Aqib Talib. Moments later, Siemian lofted a deep pass to Jordan Norwood, who had slipped past rookie safety Antonio Glover.
