GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Yes, Clay Matthews has something wrong with his elbow. But no, it didn't keep the Green Bay Packers linebacker from practicing Wednesday -- at least not completely.
Matthews, who already missed five training camp practices this month because of a sore knee, was a limited participant after coach Mike McCarthy said his defensive star had an issue with his elbow and likely wouldn't practice.

Matthews went through the individual and position group drills early in practice but did not take part in any team (11-on-11) periods.
Nate Palmer worked at Matthews' inside linebacker spot next to Sam Barrington, while Mike Neal and Julius Peppers manned the outside linebacker spots with the No. 1 defense.
At this point, Matthews would appear to be doubtful for Sunday's preseason game at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Matthews did not make the trip to New England for last week's preseason opener.
Another outside linebacker, Nick Perry, returned to practice after missing nearly two weeks because of a groin injury. Perry also appeared to be limited; however, he did take at least one team rep.
Here are other notes from Wednesday:
Donnie Football: With David Bakthiari (knee) unlikely to play Sunday against the Steelers, the Packers likely will start Don Barclay at left tackle. It will be his first game action at the spot. He started 18 games at right tackle in 2012 and 2013 combined but missed all of 2014 after he tore his ACL last August. Barclay struggled at right tackle against the Patriots but has taken all the left tackle reps with the starters this week. "It's important for him to get that work," McCarthy said of Barclay. "We may look at a couple other guys there too." In a regular-season situation, McCarthy might be more likely to move Bryan Bulaga from right tackle to left tackle and then play Barclay, or someone else, on the right side.
One on one, Part 1: The offensive linemen and pass-rushers did the one-on-one drill for the first time since Aug. 11, and outside linebacker Mike Neal had the most impressive win for the defense. He smoked Barclay on an outside move. Barclay came back to win his other rep, but it was against rookie free-agent linebacker Jermauria Rasco. Barclay's record in the drill is just 10-6, the lowest winning percentage among the eight offensive linemen most likely to make the team.
One on one, Part 2: In the one-on-one drill between receivers and defensive backs, Davante Adams made the catch of the day. He hauled in a one-handed grab on a deep route against cornerback LaDarius Gunter. Adams had one of his most productive practices of camp with several catches in both team and individual drills.
No nomination: Former Packers guard Jerry Kramer (1958-68) was not selected by the Pro Football Hall of Fame Senior Committee as one of its two nominees for this year. Kramer, who some believe is the greatest former Packers player not in the Hall of Fame, was bypassed in favor of former Raiders Kenny Stabler and former Lions/Redskins guard Dick Stanfel.
Practice report: The only new player missing from practice was safety Morgan Burnett, who was excused for a personal matter. Cornerback Casey Hayward (quad) plus defensive linemen Letroy Guion (hamstring) and Bruce Gaston (illness) returned to practice.
