Aaron Rodgers is coming off a down year – by his standards – yet still threw for 3,821 yards and 31 touchdowns with only eight interceptions. Much more is expected from him and the Packers’ offense this season. That’s reflected in his ESPN fantasy projections, which predict he and Andrew Luck will share the NFL’s touchdown pass lead this season. Will he deliver?
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 4,222 yards, 32.5 touchdowns, 7.7 interceptions.
Over or under: Four times, including both of his MVP seasons, Rodgers has gone over that passing yardage total. With Jordy Nelson expected to be back plus the addition of tight end Jared Cook and the hope that teams will have to commit more defenders to the running game, let’s go over on the yards. He has thrown for more than 32 touchdowns three times and with Eddie Lacy in better shape, some of those short-yardage goal-line plays could turn into runs. But this offense should be prolific enough to get Rodgers into position to put his touchdown total in the mid-30s. So take the over on TDs, too. Rodgers has never been a high-interception quarterback, throwing double-digit picks only twice in his eight seasons. Not that he’ll ever force the ball, but he might go over his total this year because he appears determined to make more plays this year than he did last year.
