Free agency was to set the Texans' draft needs, and the secondary was an area where they knew going in they'd have to devote some attention.
To that end, the Texans have now signed two players -- Kareem Jackson, who re-signed before being available to sign with other teams, and Rahim Moore, the former Broncos safety who as agreed to terms today, according to our Adam Schefter.
Kendrick Lewis, the Texans starting free safety last season, is on the market now and will still be available for the Texans if they choose to sign him later in the offseason. This news, though, means if they don't re-sign him, they'll be ok.
Along with Jackson and Moore, the Texans extended Jeff Tarpinian, and inside linebacker who served the Texans well last season in his role.
Nose tackle remains the biggest remaining need, and the Texans are in the mix with former Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork. Wilfork, though, could return to New England, where he spent the first 11 years of his career. Indianapolis is also reportedly an option, a place where he could rejoin other former Miami players Frank Gore and Andre Johnson.
And, of course, if Wilfork isn't available, Ryan Pickett likely will be. Pickett, who is 35, played well for the Texans after having been signed during the 2014 season. He's in the bonus years of his career, but would love to return if the Texans had the need.
