JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Going on injured reserve because of a fractured right hand was something that Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny never even considered.
He's only thinking about figuring out a way to pad and protect his hand so he can be on the field when the Jaguars play host to Atlanta on Dec. 20.
"It’s feeling a lot better," Posluszny said Friday, less than 30 minutes after the Jaguars announced he wouldn’t play Sunday against Indianapolis. "We have a meeting with the doctor next week and we’ll go from there.
"... I’m running out of time. There’s nothing worse than missing games. I just want to make sure I take advantage of the opportunities I can, because I don’t know how many more I’m going to have."
Posluszny was hurt late in the Jaguars’ 42-39 loss to Tennessee last Sunday when his hand was stepped on. He suffered three fractures and had surgery on Wednesday to insert plates into his hand. He was wearing a soft wrap on his hand and wrist on Friday.
This will be the second game he’s missed this season. He sat out the 38-31 loss to Tampa Bay on Oct. 11 because of a high ankle sprain.
"It’s frustrating," Posluszny said. "Miss a game early in the year and then miss this one. I want to be a guy that’s reliable, that can play all 16, so to get nicked here and there and have to miss time, it’s disappointing."
Posluszny is the Jaguars’ second-leading tackler (104) and has two interceptions and nine tackles for loss.
He is the only Jaguars player who will miss Sunday’s game against Indianapolis with an injury. Running back T.J. Yeldon (groin) was added to the injury report on Friday but coach Gus Bradley said Yeldon will play and the Jaguars listed him as probable.
Here’s the rest of the Jaguars’ Friday injury report:
Safety Sergio Brown (hamstring), safety Johnathan Cyprien (stinger), receiver Allen Hurns (sports hernia/ankle), defensive tackle Roy Miller (knee), right tackle Jermey Parnell (knee) and linebacker Dan Skuta (groin) are probable.
Defensive end Ryan Davis (knee), tight end Nic Jacobs (hamstring), and receiver Bryan Walters (back) are questionable.
