The Miami Dolphins have a lot of decisions to make in February, as they plan to slash payroll and spend on the draft and free agency. But the team also has several in-house free agents to deal with.
With that in mind, we are highlighting key players whose contracts have expired, and assessing their chances of returning to South Florida. Next up is a former starting safety.
Pending free agent: S Louis Delmas
2015 stats: N/A
Analysis: Delmas has been an emotional leader on defense since he arrived in 2014. His upbeat and colorful personality keeps the group loose, and they seem to be missing something when Delmas is out. He suffered a season-ending knee injury for the second year in a row last training camp. Delmas remained around the team as he rehabbed, but the defense moved on with Michael Thomas last season. Miami is home for Delmas. So you can’t fully count out a potential return once he gets healthy, especially if it’s a team-friendly contract that is protected regarding injury.
Chances of returning: 35 percent
