The NFL regular season is just around the corner, which means fantasy drafts are in full swing. The Miami Dolphins have several skill players of interest to potential fantasy owners.
Here is a look at Miami’s running backs:
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 756.6 rushing yards, 5.2 touchdowns
Over/under: This is a difficult projection because it assumes Foster will win the starting job in Miami in Week 1 when it’s really a 50-50 proposition at this point. If Foster wins the starting job and stays healthy, I would go over in the 800-yard range. Foster, 29, has been consistent and has a strong 4.5 yards per carry average for his career. It’s usually a matter of staying healthy and getting enough carries.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 422.6 rushing yards, 3.1 touchdowns
Over/under: Similar to Foster’s projection, this is assuming Ajayi is the backup this year. The Dolphins will not make that decision for at least a couple weeks. Ajayi rushed for 187 yards last season as a backup, and I think he will go over these projected numbers. Ajayi could easily surpass these numbers if he wins the starting job in Week 1 or if there is an injury and he gets more carries throughout the season.
Who else could see time: Miami has an intriguing rookie in Kenyan Drake. The third-round pick brings a variety of skills to the running and passing game. However, Drake continues to be plagued by injuries. He has suffered hamstring pulls both in minicamp and in training camp. As a result, Drake hasn’t been able to be on the field long enough to show what he can do. Once healthy, Drake could be a factor later in the season.
